Matthew Adams, LPC
ll of us, at some point, need help. Whether struggling with low mood, high anxiety, life changes or an unexpected situation, please know you can learn new skills to overcome challenges and reach your best life.

For over twenty years I have been fortunate enough to assist others in their healing journeys. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship, in getting to know about you for who you are.

In a safe and non-judgmental environment, we work together to identify goals and consider methods that are research-based and proven to be successful. Each individual is different, and what might appeal to one person may not resonate with another. I believe in being respectful, responsive and eclectic; recognizing “one size does not fit all;” my approaches include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Systems and Solution focused therapy.

For example, in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, we look at the link between emotions and the thoughts behind them. We can’t always control our emotions, but we can learn to identify the automatic thoughts that come first and how to change these underlying thoughts to prevent the negative emotions. In this process it can also be important to look not only inside ourselves, but at the environment around us and how we have been affected in our behaviors, our belief systems, and our emotional and mental well-being. This is holistic; as we identify and discover ways to reframe our thoughts, we can produce lasting changes for the better.

I currently work with individuals, couples or families, from preteens to elders.

Please know that whatever the problem or concern, there is always a solution: a way to work through it, and to come out on the other side with confidence, healthy coping skills and the ability to apply these skills in your own life. Life is short and we all deserve to live our best lives!
